Cows and Cats at Rivervale

We have 10 cattle and have been so surprised to find how interesting and funny they can be. And agile, wow, our cattle can leap and run and twirl with the best of them. Just like the alpacas the cattle are often in their little family group, especially when we feed out hay in winter. At the moment we have Daisy with her son Oscar; Gorgeous with son Bandit, Amber with her daughter Licorice, Threepence with her son Lucky and Cassidy with her son Archie.

Licorice born 22 September 2011 - Mum is Amber

Bandit born 23 September 2011 - Mum is Gorgeous

Roland's cats live with us, the beautiful Miss Penny and her son Raggamuffin. Both hilarious and cuddly and usually to be found curled up asleep in front of the fire. Penny birthed her kittens in Dampier the year before we left, and Raggamuffin was one of them. They have taken to farm life with gusto - they are excellent mousers and rabbiters and we hardly see any rabbits now where as when we moved here it was dodgems down the driveway as rabbits skittered right, left and centre. Penny likes to accompany us outdoors in the garden, vegetable patch or alpaca house. She loves to sit on the roof of the alpaca house and tease the pacas - they are still undecided as to how to treat her. Raggamuffin prefers to sleep away his day, just killing time between breakfast and dinner!

That's Raggamuffin being cuddled, he probably drank first!

In the pic below he is the middle one.
